Young Ocean Advocate in BlueRev partnership

The BlueRev project has been selected from a Europe-wide pool of applicants for its contribution to improving the health of the world ocean and the well-being of coastal communities.

Alessia Careccia, under 30 and part of the project’s coordination team, has been officially accredited as a Young Ocean Advocate by the Directorate General of Fisheries and Maritime Affairs (DG MARE) of the European Commission.

The Young Ocean Advocate is a member of the Youth4Ocean Forum, a capacity-building platform for young ocean project leaders and a network connecting young change makers who are passionate about the ocean. As Young Ocean Advocate, Alessia will benefit from the coaching/mentoring programme of the EU4Ocean Coalition and will be invited to participate and represent Bluerev in the EU4Ocean events, where like-minded young people, ocean changemakers, and experts from all over Europe will be present.

In fact, the method chosen to set up the Youth4Ocean Forum involves collaboration and partnership among the youth mobilized, the EU4Ocean Platform members and the project consortium partners, according to the principle of co-creation and co-construction, which is also one of Bluerev’s main principles. The project, indeed, constantly engages relevant actors with complementary backgrounds and expertise to co-create and share knowledge and best practices, with the objective to exploit the potential of local communities with innovative bio-based business, governance models and social innovations solutions and replicate these solutions in similar territories.

The presence of a Young Ocean Advocate in the Bluerev team will give additional visibility to the project, attract new stakeholders interested in the topic, and engage a larger audience for future activities.

If you would like to know more about the project, you can find Alessia’s profile on the Maritime Forum website of the European Commission: https://lnkd.in/ddaFTv-B.
